Employment & Internships

Employment and Internships

The Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium (DARC) consists of three full-time staff (Director, Assistant Director, and Program Coordinator). We also offer internship opportunities on a seasonal basis (internships are typically offered during the spring and summer). See link for “Intern Flyer” below. Whenever any of these positions become available the Board of Directors will advertise the open position in Parks and Recreation related publications to insure that a qualified and experienced recreation professional is hired. Ads will also be placed in local newspapers to encourage local community members to apply.

In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at DARC will be based on merit, qualifications, and abilities. DARC does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, disability, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, covered veterans status, marital status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, childbirth, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law. This policy is in compliance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

Additionally, DARC is committed to modeling diversity and inclusion in its employment practices and workplace behaviors and is therefore proactive in positioning its policies, procedures, practices and training to reflect those ideals and initiatives.

DARC will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities as it complies with all the relevant and applicable provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) unless doing so would result in an undue hardship. This policy governs all aspects of employment, including selection, job assignment, compensation, discipline, termination, and access to benefits and training.

DARC’s leadership has the primary responsibility for seeing that the equal employment opportunity and diversity policies are implemented, but all members of the staff share in the responsibility for assuring that, by their personal actions, the policies are effective and apply uniformly to everyone.
